Kristi Williams

National Geographic Explorer | Community Organizer | Founder, Black History Saturdays

Kristi Williams is a National Geographic Explorer, community organizer, and the visionary founder of Black History Saturdays, a grassroots educational program teaching Black history in the face of book bans and curriculum restrictions. A descendant of survivors of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre and Creek Freedmen, Kristi blends storytelling, education, and advocacy to preserve historical memory and fight for justice. She currently serves as Chair of the Beyond Apology Commission for reparations in Tulsa and is the Executive Assistant to Pastor Keith Mayes at Historic Vernon A.M.E. Church, the only standing Black-owned structure from the original Greenwood District. Kristi has been featured by National Geographic, CNN, ABC’s Soul of a Nation, PBS, MSNBC, and the OWN Network, and has spoken on national stages including the Harvard Kennedy School and National Geographic Live.
