Land Justice Convening hosted by the Southern Poverty Law Center
This week we are heading to Atlanta for the first ever Land Justice Convening hosted by the Southern Poverty Law Center
Our project director Dr. Alicia Odewale was invited to share a keynote talk over the lunch hour titled “Let the Rocks, Trees, and Soil Cry Out: Reclaiming Our Land and History with What We Have Left”. We hope this talk inspires everyone to consider what kind of stories can be told from “nothing” and the hidden power of having “nothing” left when fighting for land justice. Because as Dr. O says “Nothing can sometimes be everything you need and sometimes all you need is a tree”. See you all in Atlanta!
Thank you to Malissa Williams and the rest of the Southern Poverty Law Center Team for inviting us to speak and making room for radical countermapping, archaeology, and Black Heritage Trees in this crucial conversation about the future of land justice.
